Global PSN Shutdown?

-By Josh

Not sure what’s going on but PSN doesn’t seem to work and I haven’t seen anything about a shutdown on blog.us.playstation.com. More over at kotatku.com.

Three things:

Error code 8001050F.

My Time and Date was reset.

Internet browser works fine, but cannot update Time & Date via internet.

Perhaps SkyNet is active.

[EDIT] 12:26PM 3/1/2010 – “We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.” From http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/latest-info-on-playstation-network-status/

  1. Joystiq also has some info on it as well. Sony is aware, and is working on correcting the problem.

  2. Before all you non-slim owners out there get too upset, just be aware that when my original PS3 got the Yellow-Light-of-Death, I replaced it with the new PS3 slim. The only thing was that the two USB ports do not have as much power as the old one, and I now have to have a powered USB hub for my ION drum kit and my external HDD. The Ethernet card on my new system seems to like to cut out in the middle of online games, just for a second, or at least long enough for me to get kicked. I miss my 1st gen PS3.

  3. It’s back up! Rejoice, and play on!
